DANCE HOLIDAY to CUBA in September 2024

 

After a successful dance tour to Cuba, we are ready to announce our next tour in 2024...

Our 10-day tour will commence on Friday, 6th of September 2024. Here is a brief introduction but it would like to know more, call or email us and we can tell you all about it. 

Join us to experience the flamboyant culture of Cuba, starting with professional dance classes at the headquarters of the leading Cuban Dance Company Ban Ra Ra.

Partner with a professional company member and get to know the true meaning of dance while you master Salsa, Rumba, Mambo and other traditional Cuban dance styles. Learn with the group or extend your training to private lessons.

You will have plenty of time to see the sights of Havana and enjoy Cuban cuisine and shows before being escorted to some of Havana’s hottest clubs and dance venues.

One of the best things of taking class at Havana Dance is to go out social dancing. That means going out with your classmates to a Latin Dance club and rocking the dance floor. Social dancing is also one of the most effective ways to fast track your learning process, as you have the chance to practice and solidify the steps you learn in classes.

Fraudy is 100% cubano and brings excitement, passion and professionalism to his classes, events and tours.

His mission is to educate and instill his passion for Cuban culture, music and dance to anyone who wants to have a piece of Cuba in their souls.

Fraudy's Afro-Cuban roots provide a sensual backdrop from which to explore the unique and varied dance styles of Cuba. His raw talent, coupled with years of training and performing make him not only a charismatic and versatile performer and choreographer but also an amazing instructor. Fraudy's attention to detail, style and technique enables individuals to become the best dancers they can be and his patience and encouragement ensures they enjoy the journey. His enthusiasm for dance is contagious and impossible to ignore.

Fraudy commenced his dance career with Ballet Folklorico Babul, a well-known and highly respected Afro-Cuban folkloric dance company where he trained and performed for six years.

He then moved to Havana to join Ban Rra Rra and became their principal dancer. Ban Rra Rra is the foremost and best known folkloric group in Cuba. They specialise in the religious and historical music and dances of the Oriente region in Cuba. Fraudy has toured regularly with the company performing at major venues throughout Cuba and internationally. He has also featured in many Cuban style instructional salsa videos / DVDs sold all over the world such as Mueve La Cintura and Salsa Suelta.

In 2005, Fraudy moved to Sydney, Australia where he has taught and performed in both the private and corporate sector. He participated in Sydney Cuban Salsa Congress, Portsea Summer Festival and has performed with dance troupes such as Afro-Cuban Express, the Cuban Folkloric Company, Cuba Caliente and Cuban Carousel (New Zealand). Fraudy was also the choreographer for the dance group who supported Roberto Fonceca who performed at the Opera House in 2008.

Standard Registration

  • 6 weeks term

Roberto

Roberto, a native of Argentina, is one of our assistant instructors and a key members of Havana Dance team who is there to support our students and Havana Dance family. Roberto was introduced to the world of salsa more than 10 years ago and fell in love with salsa and Cuba. He met Fraudy in 2005 when Fraudy has moved to Sydney and attended couple of his workshops; since then they have become inseparable. 

Roberto is not only one of our assistant instructors but also a very good friend of Fraudy and has been supporting him since he opened up Havana Dance Academy in 2014. Roberto loves dancing so much and you will almost definitely run into him at all the latin events around Sydney.

Laurie

Laurie accidentally came across Salsa in February 2005. He started learning Puerto Rican Salsa and moved on to Cuban style in 2006.  He taught himself to play the guitar at 15, started Ballroom dancing in the late 70s, Musical Theatre 3 decades later, Tango in 2005, Bachata in 2006, Kizomba in 2017, add songwriting, a Diploma in Music Business and Certificate IV in Music Management, and you can see that Laurie loves his music and dancing. 

His Cuban Salsa training has all been with Cubans, and in 2008 performed in a Salsa Rueda team at various festivals. He has been teaching Salsa and Bachata since 2009. Laurie also performed in Australia's first Bachata Rueda team in the inaugural Sydney International Bachata festival in 2008. His teaching of Bachata focuses on musicality and rhythm, trying to keep it as authentic as possible to its' Dominican Republic roots.

Lilly

Lilly has first joined Fraudy's classes 8 years ago and since then she has become a regular member of the salsa scene.

Over the last few years, she has travelled to Cuba few times on our tours, and has learnt different dance techniques including salsa, son and other styles.

For the past four years, she has been assisting with managing our members and is responsible for all administration for Havana Dance.

So when you come to us, she is the person who will help you and answer your enquiries!
