Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Complimentary airport pick up upon arrival to take you to your Casa Particulars.

At night, we will have an informal catch up to meet the rest of the group and talk about the plans for the week to come. Details of the meeting will be provided to you by your host family.

Day 2

In the morning, meet with the Havana Dance team who will take you on a familiarization tour of the local area. After the walking tour, we all head to Parque Central where you will take one hour vintage car city tour in groups (included in the tour). Do not forget to bring a hat and sun screen.

In the afternoon, we set out to El Gran Palenque to experience Rumba at its best.  It is here that the Conjunto Folkloric Nacional de Cuba hosts the weekly Sábado de la Rumba (three hours of rumba music and dance performances).

Tonight is our official welcome dinner at one of Havana’s most popular restaurants. 

Day 3

Morning is free for you to sleep in or explore this great city at your leisure. There  are  many  ways  you  can  do  this  –  simply  walk  along  the  many  streets, filled  with  beautiful  plazas,  churches,  and  monuments  not  to  mention  the bars! Or if you prefer you can take the hop on hop off bus which covers all the major points of interest around Havana including Capitolio, Plaza de Revolucion and Cementario Colon.

We meet  at  12.30  pm to go to Callejon de Hamel- an alleyway packed with colored art installations, Santeria  figures  and  sculptures,  created  by  local  resident  Salvador Gonzáles  Escalona.! Sundays  are  extra  special  at  Callejon  de  Hammel,  where local  artists  perform  live  Rumba  music  and  dance,  turning  it  into  one  big rumba  street  party.  This  will  be  another  opportunity  visit  another  authentic rumba  place  and  mix  with  the  locals  and  at  the  end  we  can  all  go  to  have lunch together.

Day 4
Day 8

Make sure you have your dancing shoes ready because today we begin a week of dance classes which run from 10 am to 1 pm daily (except on Friday, where we finish at 12 pm)

The afternoons are free so you can relax, go to the beach, explore the city or fast track your learning by taking private lessons.

On Wednesday night, we organise an optional group dinner at “El Guajirito” where the famous “Buena Vista Social Club” play. This will be an opportunity not to be missed; enjoy delicious Cuban cuisine while listening to a legendary Cuban group.

Dancing isn’t limited to classes. Each evening, we take you on a dance fest to some of the best local dance venues. During your week in Havana, you will live, eat, dance and party like a Cuban!

Day 9

Free day to explore the city but as always we will go out dancing at night so don’t put your dancing shoes away!

Day 10

The morning sees us on our way to Trinidad by air conditioned coach. En route, we stop to Boca de Guama which was named after the Taino chief Guama who put a defence against Spanish colonists. Boca de Guamá is a tourist centre of shops, a ceramic factory, a restaurant and a crocodile farm (Criadero de Cocodrilos) where they breed the native Rhombifer (cocodrilo). That’s where we will have lunch, and if you feel like it you can add some crocodile meat to your menu.

After that, we will stop at  Playa Giron at the mouth of Bay of Pigs (Bahia de Cochinos), which was the site of the final battle between Fidel Castro's armed forces and the counter revolutionary army in April 1961.

Our final destination for the day is Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Cuba's most charming towns with its perfectly preserved colonial buildings. Once you settle into your casas, we will meet for an optional dinner pm followed by visiting one of the popular dancing venues in Trinidad for more dancing.

Day 11

In the morning, we have our walking tour of the city with our tour guide where you can try traditional drink from Trinidad at “La Canchanchara”. After a brief lunch, we head to Playa Ancon to enjoy the sun, sea and a cool beer or if you prefer a cocktail you must try our delicious mojitos.

After dinner, it’s time to dance at Casa de La Trova or La Cueva (the Cave); a famous nightclub build inside a cave popular with locals and tourist alike.

Day 12

Today, we continue our adventure and head to Cienfuegos for a day trip.  We leave Trinidad at 8 am to first visit ‘El Nicho’ Waterfalls one of the perfect examples of Cuba’s natural wonders. Our walk to the famous waterfall takes us through lush vegetation before cascading into the emerald rock pools; do not forget to bring your swimwear.

After lunch, we drive to Cienfuegos, also known as the ‘Pearl of the South’ because of its beautiful bay, lovely colonial architecture and unforgettable hospitality. We will spend couple of hours walking in town visiting several the key spots. Late afternoon, we will leave beautiful Cienfuegos begin later afternoon arriving Trinidad around  6 pm and if we still have energy after a long day, we will go out at night to explore other dancing venues.

Day 13

Today is a free day to enjoy Trinidad. For some beach side fun, you can head down to Playa La Boca, a very relaxed village at the beach just 10 minutes by taxi outside Trinidad. It is the place to visit if you like to mingle with the local Cuban way of life. Rent a bike and enjoy the surroundings or just relax at the beach.

Day 14

Time to say farewell to Trinidad and drive back to Havana.  On the way we will pass through Santa Clara, where you'll visit the Che Guevara mausoleum and memorial. Che's remains were brought here after they were found in a remote corner of Bolivia in 1997, where he was assassinated by the CIA-backed Bolivian army. Check out the impressive bronze statue of Che bearing his rifle and learn about his incredible life.

After lunch in Santa Clara, we will continue our journey to Havana. At night, we will have another opportunity to meet up with your dance partners and have another dance.

Day 15

Free day to explore Havana, walk around Old Town one last time or may be visit shops to buy gift for the loved ones back at home.   

Our last night in Havana, we will go to one of the best dancing venues to finish your tour on a high, practising your dance moves one last time before you leave.  If you like, you can invite your dance partner for a final dance ☺
